Westminster Dog Show

My mom and I watched Westminster this morning. She had to work so she taped it. Well, we both think the Afghan Hound should have won the Hound Group. Maybe that's because my mom used to show Afghans Hounds years ago. She even knows one of the owners (Jerry) of Neo, (Ch. Elan Sebring the Matrix), the Afghan who won on Monday night. Neo has such beautiful hair. When I am older and calmer, my mom is going to let my hair grow. I really do believe that when that happens, I will look a lot like Neo even though my legs are a little shorter. I want to run around and have my beautiful black hair flow like his. Until then, I will practice my running outside in the grass and show the neighbors I could have been a show dog if I was not going to pursue my modeling career!

Bad Dog - Me

I got in trouble twice today. Okay, so I was picking on Carlos (my cat brother) a little more than usual. But I thought that his little brown ears were for me to drag him around. I mean, that’s what I do with my other bff, my big brown stuffed otter! Carlos is way heavier than I am so it’s hard for me to pull him. I didn’t know he was going to get all upset and start doing that cat howling thing! Boy, my mom was upset. She picked him up and got all mushy with him (yuk, he’s a fur ball). Then she told me I was bad and to back off. Then she wouldn’t even let me play with him and she let him go sleep on her big bed (where I never get to go!).

As if that wasn’t bad enough, later I had an accident on the couch. I don’t know what happened! But sure enough, there was a big wet spot on the arm of the couch. I was in trouble again! She even put me out in the rain without my coat. She didn’t stay mad for long, but I figured one more strike and I would really be in the dog house. I thought surely the couch was ruined because it’s suede but she says she loves her couch because a couple of hours later she couldn’t even see the stain. It worked out okay though because we spent the evening in the recliner with the blanket watching Lost.

Benjamin's 22nd Birthday

Today we walked to Rite-Aid because it is beautiful out! I wore my sweater and had so much fun. We went to buy a card for my human brother, Benjamin. He will be 22 years old next Friday. I have never met him because he lives in Los Angeles, but I know what he sounds like because his voice is on our answering machine. Maybe someday I will get to see him. I know my mom really misses him a lot. :(

My First Birthday!!!

Today is the big day. We got up pretty early and I got my birthday present. It's a car seat! I can't believe it. Now I don't have to ride in my little crate. When my mom put it in the car I didn't think I would like it, but when I got in it, it was awesome! We went to Olympia and even though it took an hour to get there, I didn't close my eyes once! I watched everything, the trees and the cars and the people and the dogs. I can't believe I missed all this when I was in the crate! This is the best birthday present ever.

When we got to Olympia we went to Petco. That was a blast. I met another dog there. He is half Chihuahua and half terrier and if I do say so, he was a little pushy. He was getting a jacket. My mom got me a really cute little red Loofa toy. I didn't get any clothes because I buy them from myself on my website, DoggyPanache.com. Then we went to PetSmart. That's where I think I fell in love. He was a black Great Dane. Well, I think I fell in love with his paw because se that's all I could see, but it was a very handsome paw. He liked me too, I could tell. My mom got me a little baby girl Loofa there. Wow, that is so cool. Now I have a real family of Loofas.

Then we went and took a long walk in a park so I would be sleepy when my mom went to eat. Boy, was I! I conked out in my crate with my 2 new Loofas beside me. But then on the way home I stayed awake for the whole 50 miles so I could look out the window. It was a really great day.

To the Spa

Tomorrow I will be one year old so today I went to the beauty parlor and got a trim. Now I am all slinky and shiny. Because it is my birthday tomorrow my groomer friend put red and pink feathers in my topknot and in the middle there is a diamond. She must love me a lot to give me a diamond. Gosh, I look like a movie star!

New Year's Eve

My mom is working tonight but when she gets home we will watch "New Year's Rockin' Eve". I don't know what the big deal is about New Year's Eve. My mom says I will understand when I am older and can go to New Year's Eve parties. I sure hope so!

The Nor'wester, Fourth Day

Guess what, the lights are back on! We are so lucky because we live so close to the hospital that when the hospital got their power back, we did too. Most everyone else in the county still has no lights. My friend Lhatie still doesn't.

The Nor'wester, Third Night

Tonight we got all settled in with our candles and books. My mom found her battery radio so at least we have a little noise. It's very quiet outside tonight; the wind and rain have stopped. I still can't get out the back door without swimming and my mom doesn't want me to do that, so she is still carrying me outside and back in. She said someday things will be back to normal. Does that mean we won't cuddle on the couch by candlelight? I will miss that.

The Nor'wester, Third Day

This morning it was really cold when we woke up and it's still raining and the wind is still blowing. I think my mom is getting a little worried about the flooding because the Chehalis River is rising very fast and it's close to our house. She said she is going to leave my life jacket on while she is at work so I can float up to the ceiling. I think she was kidding but I don't know. My cat brothers Carlos and Kato don't seem to care about any of this but I can tell my mom is nervous. She went to the grocery store this morning to try to get some water and canned food but it was closed and there were electric lines and trees down in the streets. She said everything in town is closed, even Wal-Mart!

It's funny to think 50 miles away in Olympia, life is normal. We were going to go there and stay at a motel on her days off tomorrow and Thursday but we don't have enough gas and there is no gas in town at all. Even gas stations as far away as Olympia are running out. So I guess we are stuck here. I am getting use to it though, but it is quiet without the radio.
